Ladies Of Lead Group Therapy, LLC ® has educational programs for handgun safety and personal protection. Most of our clients are first time shooters with no prior experience with handguns. Still other clients may have taken the basic hand written or on line course and received their Concealed Handgun License yet they do not know how to shoot a handgun or have any information on fundamentals, ammunition, misfires, jams and more importantly, how to protect innocent bystanders, including family members, from a stray bullet from their own gun. They could easily become part of the problem if they choose to draw their firearm. Our courses are structured to help you gain valuable information that one day may save your life or the life of a loved one. Since we realize the "learning curve" for beginners is challenging, we have built our courses in such a way to address this.
Within the Handgun 101 Course, you will have the opportunity to learn all about revolvers, semi-automatics and the different loads of cartridges for each. In your classroom instruction we will teach you all about the different ammunition available for you personal carry needs and situations. You will be able to handle unloaded handguns in several calibers. The .22, .38, 9mm and the 45ACP. We will teach body position, bench rest position, two-handed grip, sight alignment, sight picture, arc of movement, breath control, trigger control, follow-through and recoil management.
In your Range portion on the firing line you will start with intensive one on one instruction with live ammunition. You will then shoot from a distance of 15 feet. You'll shoot several calibers of handguns both revolvers and semi-automatics .22, .38, 9mm and the .45ACP.
Sharon Preston started LOL Group Therapy, LLC ® in November 2012 two weeks before the tragedy at Sandy Hook, in an attempt to meet and make friends with other ladies that wanted to shoot. Being new to handguns herself, she was shocked to see the huge response she received through social networking. Within a few short months it turned into a full blown business. The need for quality instruction is overwhelming given that women make up the nations largest new handgun owners in America. She immediately teamed up with the Nation Rifle Association and their wonderful educational opportunities and started looking for instructors.
Her main goal is to provide patient thorough instruction and training to women of all stages in their shooting experience. From women that are brand new to firearms and the shooting sports all the way to those that have had hunting and range time but lacked expert training.
Since beginning Ladies Of Lead® she has pursued expert training herself. She has qualified as an NRA Training Counselor, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun Instructor, NRA Refuse To Be A Victim Instructor, NRA Personal Protection In The Home and has trained with the world famous Massad Ayoob and graduated in his MAG/40 class in the top 10% of his all time classes. She is also a 4-H National Shooting Team Level 2 Pistol Instructor. Sharon is also the President of the largest gun range in Oregon located East of Bend, Oregon called Central Oregon Shooting Sports Association www.cossapark.com
Her goal is to be the best role model and Instructor she can be in order to teach and empower as many women as possible to be able to defend themselves. She takes firearm safety very seriously and the enormous responsibilities that go with it.
She is passionate about teaching reasonable and prudent gun ownership and believes that" Wolves do not fear a rabbit with a gun". She wants to make sure that women don't just get their Concealed Handgun License and think that that is the end all. She wants to make sure that you know how and when to use a firearm. That it is ingrained in your mind through training and becomes a decision that is made before you need to make it.
Sheila has lived in Bend since 1979 when she settled down to raise her kids here. She loves the outdoors and all that Bend has to offer. She enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time with friends and family.
In 1999 she was the victim of a violent crime and almost died at the hands of her attacker. It took 20 min. that day for police to respond to a 911 call made by a woman who heard her cries for help. She survived the attack, but she had a choice to make. She could live in fear as a victim, or she could choose to train and have a plan to protect herself and her loved ones. She is now passionate about helping others to train to be survivors and have a plan to say "Not me, not today."
